2018 has already been a historic year for women in WWE.
Back in January, the first ever female Royal Rumble took place - putting women in the main event of one of the promotions biggest pay-per-views.
Following on from that strong start, Stephanie McMahon made an even bigger announcement on RAW last month.
THE EVOLUTION CONTINUES
Standing in the ring with her father, Vince, in front of the entire women’s roster, McMahon announced that in October, WWE will be airing their first ever all-female PPV - Evolution.
In two months time, all four of their roster’s titles will be on the line.
The RAW Women’s Championship, the SmackDown Live title, the NXT Women’s belt and the UK Women’s Championship will all be defended that night.
But it’s not just in the ring that women in wrestling are going from strength to strength.
This week, the 2018 Mae Young Classic tournament was taped - and during the recordings, Renee Young and Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix made some history of their own.
For the first time in WWE’s existence, two women were alongside Michael Cole inside the commentary booth, calling every match.
Clearly, Renee, in particular, must have done a very good job - because she’ll be making even more history again next week.
On Thursday, WWE announced that Young will be filling in for Jonathan Coachman on RAW next Monday - and she will become the first ever woman to call the entire three-hour show.
It’s fair to say that she’s very excited about the opportunity, too.
“When Michael told me, I was like, 'This Monday?! What are you talking about?!'," Young told ESPN.
"I am so excited for this opportunity. To be sitting with Cole, who has been such a great champion of mine since I've been working for WWE, it's going to be really cool."
THE WRESTLING WORLD REACTS
Of course, this news has been making waves in the pro-wrestling world - and rightly so. Here are some of the best reactions from around WWE.
It’s brilliant to see so many fellow WWE talents supporting Renee ahead of her big opportunity. Monday’s episode of RAW will be well worth watching now.
