This year has been one of the most exciting for women in WWE.

It started back in January when the first ever all-female Royal Rumble headlined that pay-per-view and since then, the revolution hasn't looked back.

HISTORIC ANNOUNCEMENTS

Back in June, Stephanie McMahon revealed that this October, the women's roster will be getting a PPV all to themselves.

WWE Evolution will air on October 28 and on that night, all four of the women's belts will be put on the line.

That means the RAW, SmackDown Live, NXT and UK Women's Championships will all be defended on the card.

As well as that, the final of the 2018 Mae Young Classic is scheduled to take place too.

THE TAPINGS

Now, that tournament will begin airing on September 5 and will run weekly until the Evolution PPV in two months.

But unlike SmackDown and RAW, the Mae Young Classic tournament won't be airing live - and it's already been taped this week.

The recordings took place at Full Sail University in Florida on Wednesday and Thursday night - so we already know who will be in the final match - the one that will be live on October 28.

SPOILER ALERT

It will be Toni Storm vs Io Shirai, who will battle it out to become only the second ever winner of the tournament, behind Kairi Sane who won in 2017.

The Mae Young Classic tapings were no doubt a great experience for both the wrestlers in the ring and the fans watching.

But, unfortunately, there was one moment during Thursday night's recording that changed the tone quite a bit.

A HEARTBREAKING INJURY

During her match against Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox suffered a very serious injury.

She attempted a dive outside the ring and badly hurt her leg. Reports from inside the arena suggested she tried to carry on, before eventually being forced out of the match.

Nox was escorted backstage sobbing, to a standing ovation from the crowd - and it's believed she suffered a knee injury.

Later on, Triple H came out to address the fans and suggested that Nox was carried out with a broken heart - not a broken leg.

STRIKING TWICE

That's slightly better news, although reports still need to confirm exactly how bad it is.

If her injury this year isn't heartbreaking enough, a similar knee problem kept Nox out of the tournament in 2017. Hopefully, she'll be able to recover from this latest setback.
