In recent years, WWE have poached a lot of talent from the independent wrestling scene.

The likes of Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles all spent time working outside of WWE, making huge names for themselves.

Now in Vince McMahon's promotion, they're the stars at the top of the roster, drawing in the crowds each week.

THE NEXT SWOOP

Of course, the chairman is always looking to add even more talent to his promotion - so expect to see a fair few more sign deals in the near future.

In fact, recent reports suggest that WWE could be going after Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks soon - those guys, are arguably some of the top stars on the indy circuit right now.

But, McMahon is arguably trying to sign them for the wrong reasons.

HIJACKING G1 SUPERCARD

Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling are running a G1 Supercard show at Madison Square Garden in April next year.

It will, perhaps purposely, clash with WrestleMania 35 weekend - and directly with NXT TakeOver - meaning some fans may choose to go to MSG rather than the Barclays Center that night.

Clearly, Vince isn't taking that competition likely - and he wants to poach the likes of Omega and The Young Bucks to substantially weaken ROH/NJPW's event

With all their contracts expiring at the end of the year, it's possible that WWE could completely hijack the G1 Supercard event.

ROH RESPONDS

Following that news, ROH General Manager Greg Gilleland explained how his promotion will react to WWE - and what they're doing to keep their stars on the indy scene.

"They’re our top guys, right? Of course, we’re going to do everything that we can to keep them," Gilleland told CBS.

"We have fair offers and fair plans to retain them. With that said, I don’t think we ever operate in fear.

"If they go to the WWE, and they very much deserve that opportunity, we’ll continue to offer the best wrestling that we can.

"Am I gonna make an aggressive attempt to retain them and sign longer-term agreements? Of course we are.

"But, at the end of the day, the ROH brand is about the ROH experience, and that’s how we continue to grow."

UP IN THE AIR

Of course, it's not certain that WWE will actually make a move for Omega, Nick and Matt Jackson.

But given how ruthless McMahon has been in building his wrestling business, don't be surprised if we see them all in WWE before next April.
