There is one star that is battling through an injury.

That star is exciting wrestling NXT star Ricochet. It seems like every few months that WWE has been announcing that they’ve signed a new talent from the independent wrestling scene.

WWE has announced the signings of names like former Ring of Honor World Champion Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish, Donovan Dijak, Lio Rush and Shayna Baszler last year.

Starting back in November, there was increasing talk that Ricochet is coming to WWE sooner rather than later. PWInsider reported that Ricochet was expected to sign with WWE and start with the company in early 2018. That report came true on January 16th.

WWE was in Atlanta, GA at Center Stage on earlier this year for the NXT TV tapings. Ricochet defeated Fabian Aichner in a singles match, which marked his NXT in-ring debut.

Ricochet made an appearance in the crowd at the NXT Takeover: Philly event on the WWE Network in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Wells Fargo Center.

For some background on this exciting talent, he is known for his work for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

During his time with the promotion, he is a three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion and a three-time NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion and the winner of the 2014 Best of the Super Juniors and 2015 Super Jr. Tag Tournaments.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Ricochet has been dealing with an injury for some time.

If you recall, he suffered an injury on the WWE NXT tour of Europe in June where Triple H later noted on a media conference call that he wouldn’t call it an injury but rather a tweak.

He would later work the Takeover: Chicago event against The Velveteen Dream and then a few shows in the UK. Since then, he hasn’t worked an event.

It should be noted that he did take part in a beatdown angle with The Undisputed Era at the last NXT TV tapings. According to the report, the injury isn’t serious but officials are giving him time off to recovery.

He is currently scheduled to face NXT North American Champion Adam Cole at Takeover: Brooklyn IV.

The NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV event takes place on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center and will air on the WWE Network. Here is the updated card for the show:

NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano - Last Man Standing Match

NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane

NXT Tag Team Champions Roderick Strong and Kyle O'Reilly vs. Tyler Bate and Trent Seven

NXT North American Champion Adam Cole vs. Ricochet

EC3 vs. The Velveteen Dream
