The final stage of the Tour de Pologne wasn't without its drama - but it's safe to say the drama was unexpected.Team Sky's Michal Kwiatkowski survived a late fright from Simon Yates to take the overall victory in the Polish road race, but sadly for the Sky rider, that's not what most people were talking about following its conclusion.Kwiatkowski, competing in his home race had led the event since its fourth stage, but he faced a challenge to hold onto his winning position from Yates, who launched an attack in the closing kilometres as he looked to close his deficit on the Pole. However, there was an interesting moment on one of the rain-sodden roads which has caught the attention of social media, and Twitter in particular.Normally, crashes in the sport are caused by riders bumping into each other as they close in on one another in often tight-knit riding cliques. But as the race was coming to a close, a dog intervened. Yes you read that right. A dog. With Kwiatkowski ahead of the pack, approaching a nearby roundabout, the white canine decided to run out into the middle of the road as riders approached, before swiftly making its way back to the pavement. Unfortunately, the dog leaping out into the road caused a substantial crash, with many riders getting caught up in it.

Although the dog seemingly saw sense before running into the cyclists, his actions caused quite the drama, and unfortunately ruined several riders' race.

The subsequent crash forced some of the riders out of the event's conclusion, including Karol Domagalski, Michael Storer and Sergey Firsanov.

However, amid all of the drama of the dog invading the road, Kwiatkowski kept his cool to finish top of the podium, despite finishing the final stage in seventh.
