We now know why this talent didn’t make her in-ring debut.

Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke were slated to make their in-ring debut for WWE's NXT brand at an NXT live event in Largo, FL at the Minnreg Hall late July.

Shafir and Duke are part of the 'Four Horsewomen of MMA.' The other two members have already made an impact in WWE.

With just a handful of television matches under her belt, Ronda Rousey is already one of the company's top stars. Shayna Baszler is a force to be reckoned with and is the reigning NXT Women's Champion.

Shafir made her NXT live event debut at this show but Duke hasn’t and that has led to some speculation as to why.

Just last year, there was an angle involving Rousey came about after Shayna Baszler’s second-round win in the Mae Young Classic tournament, which aired on WWE Network.

Keep in mind that the sports entertainment company taped the tournament in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University in July of 2017.

In the segment, Baszler celebrated with Rousey and MMA teammates Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.

This led to a heated exchange with WWE stars Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bailey, who were seated in the front row across the aisle for the match.

WWE shared this video after the episode had aired of Rousey, Duke, and Shafir praising Baszler.

Ultimately, this led to Flair, Lynch, and Bailey walking up and having a tense face-off. Rousey drops her bag as though she’s ready for a fight and is the only one to direct words at the three WWE stars.

Years ago, Rousey, Duke, and Shafir were dubbed MMA’s Four Horsewomen years ago as an homage to the classic Ric Flair-led pro wrestling stable that started in 1985 and lasted through the late ’90s.

On the flip side, Flair, Lynch, Bayley, and Sasha Banks also came to be known as the Four Horsewomen of pro wrestling as they rose up the ranks from NXT to the WWE main roster.

With all four of MMA's Four Horsewomen now active on the WWE and NXT rosters, the prospect of a showdown with WWE's Four Horsewomen (Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayely) is more real than ever.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Duke is dealing with a minor injury, which is why she had yet to make her WWE debut.

She is “a little hurt” and that is why she has not made her in-ring debut while Marina Shafir has.

It would go onto state that recently did a practice match at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida and that WWE officials believe she needs more ring time in actual matches, much like anyone. The feeling is that she’s a prodigy in the business.
