After Jose Mourinho handed Paul Pogba the captain’s armband for Manchester United’s opening Premier League fixture against Leicester, it looked as though the pair had finally put their troubles behind them.
Pogba and Mourinho clashed throughout last season with the Frenchman being dropped on occasions.
But after Pogba produced a class performance whilst wearing the captain’s armband just weeks after leading his country to World Cup glory, it seemed as though everything was happy again.
However, less than 24 hours after scoring during United’s 2-1 victory against Leicester, Pogba has blown his rift with Mourinho wide open.
At first, Pogba thanked coaches Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna for putting their trust in him.
“It makes me proud to wear this armband. For me, it’s a dream come true," Pogba said.
“I always give my best for fans, my team-mates and for people who trust me.
“Carrick talked to me, Kieran came to me and they spoke about United, what a big club it is, how people look up to me, about coming from the academy, stuff like that.
“When you are comfortable, when people trust you, you are good in the head and it’s easier.”

Instead, the midfielder suggested that if he revealed how he really felt, he’d be fined.
“Are you happy and comfortable then Paul?” He was asked.
Pogba replied: “There are things... and then there are things that I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.”
That’s certainly one way to get people talking and make headlines.
While the Premier League transfer window is shut, clubs in other leagues around Europe can still buy players until the end of the month.
That includes Barcelona…
