No matter who you support, you’ve got to have some sympathy for Newcastle fans.Ok, maybe not if you’re a fan of Middlesborough or Sunderland. But everyone else does.Once again, Mike Ashley has failed to provide the club with sufficient funds in the transfer window making profit this summer. And when you’ve got such a talented manager like Rafa Benitez at the helm, that seems like football suicide. The news that Ashley is set to buy House of Fraser for £90 million angered the Toon Army even further. And that includes club legend, Alan Shearer.Whilst appearing on Match of the Day, Shearer went on an angry rant about Newcastle’s owner.“Rafa has not been given the ammunition to take the club forward,” Shearer insisted.“Again, Newcastle are in profit in this transfer window, around £23 million.“Plus, you take for finishing 10th last year, you get around £123 million.

“I think he [Benitez] will stay at the club until the end of the season and there’s no doubt about it that he will review it because at times he must think it’s an impossible job.”

Shearer was clearly angry but his co-pundit Ian Wright wanted to lighten the mood.

He started to snigger next to Shearer during his rant - something that the legendary striker didn’t exactly appreciate.

It’s certainly no laughing matter for Newcastle fans, though.

They may have been unlucky to lose 2-1 to Spurs on the opening weekend but it could be a long hard season at St. James’ Park.

But if any manager can perform this “impossible job”, it’s Benitez.
