Alexa Bliss has been Raw Women's Champion for the vast majority of 2018, and she has done a very good job of giving the title credibility of WWE's biggest brand.
Her main opponent for the title over the year so far has been her former on-screen best friend Nia Jax. Bliss lost the title to Jax at WrestleMania 34 earlier this year.
Part of this storyline in the build to WrestleMania and beyond involved Little Miss Bliss body shaming Jax for her size, something which didn't go down well with some WWE fans, especially with the company's support of the Be A Star anti-bullying campaign.
During a recent interview with Miami's AM 790 The Ticket, via Wrestling Inc, the Raw Women's Champion spoke about this controversial storyline and how difficult it was for both her and Jax due to their personal support of body positivity.
Bliss said: "My biggest insult was probably with Nia. We had the body shaming storyline and that was very rough because we are both very passionate about body positivity, but we had to make the storyline mean something because that is a real issue in the world.
"It hurt me calling her 'Shrek going through the airport' and stuff like that because she's my best friend."
The Raw Women's Champion also revealed that herself and Jax played a big part in the creative process for the storyline in order to make sure that they brought attention to the issue.
She said: "It's just one of those things where you have to bring realism to certain issues and we were both in agreement that we wanted to put those digs in there because we wanted the storyline to mean something because we're both so passionate about body positivity and portraying that story.
"On that rivalry, we were both very much a part of that, we were in the creative process. [Jax] wanted me to go there."
Jax would go on to win the Raw Women's title at WrestleMania 34, before successfully defending it against Bliss at Backlash.
Bliss would then go on to win the Women's Money in the Bank briefcase at Money in the Bank, using it later on in the event against Jax during her match vs Ronda Rousey, winning the title back in the process.
Their rivalry came to an end at Extreme Rules when Bliss retained the championship against Jax in the inaugural women's extreme rules match. Bliss will now defend the title vs Rousey at SummerSlam.
