Oldham boss Paul Dickov will assess the fitness of striker Deane Smalley ahead of the home clash with Bournemouth.

Smalley is Dickov's only fresh doubt after picking up back and groin injuries in the reserves against Bury on Tuesday night.

The Latics have been boosted with the news injured duo Ryan Brooke and Greg Fleming are set to return to full training before the end of the month.

Striker Brooke damaged ankle ligaments in the final pre-season friendly and it was feared he could be ruled out for up to six months.

Goalkeeper Fleming sustained a knee injury during pre-season in a reserve-team friendly at Rhyl and was expected to be out for at least three months.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is likely to name new signing Jon Stewart on the bench for the trip following his arrival at Dean Court.

Stewart began his career at Swindon and has also spent time at Portsmouth but is unlikely to dislodge current number one Shwan Jalal so soon after his arrival on a two-year contract.

Stephen Purches could return to the squad after getting through training with no problems following his rib injury while Steven Fletcher will also find himself on the bench following his return from eight weeks out with a heel injury.

Howe has no new injuries to contend with but ex-Everton striker Michael Symes will again miss out with continuing shoulder problems.
