Stan Van Gundy was dismissed as the head coach of the Detroit Pistons back in May, but he is yet to find another coaching role in the NBA.

Under Van Gundy, the Pistons finished with a 39-43 record at the end of the 2017-18 season, missing out on the playoffs for the second straight year. His replacement was former Toronto Raptors coach and reigning NBA Coach of the Year Dwane Casey.

Van Gundy has an all-time coaching record of 523-384 after also spending time with the Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic but yet, three months on from his firing, he is still out of work.

During a recent interview with the Real Talk Basketball with Rex Walters podcast, via ESPN, the former Pistons head coach spoke about his future in the NBA and what he'll do if he doesn't receive an offer.

Still wants to coach

Van Gundy has said that he wants to still be coaching, but he's yet to receive an offer.

He said: "If I could get a job [for next season], I had planned to coach. Now, I really don't know. I'm really lost right now. I don't have an idea. My wife wants me to retire."

As for what he'll do if he doesn't get a coaching role, the 58-year-old has said he is considering media opportunities or teaching at the college level.

He said: "I want to do something, but if I'm not coaching, I don't want to work too hard. If I'm going to be grinding, then I want to coach. If I'm not going to be coaching, I want to be semi-retired, at least. I really don't know."

Van Gundy added, via the Detroit Free Press: "It's been like 11 weeks, 12 weeks, and there's still no plan. I don't have any idea. I'm sort of as lost as I've been. Every other time, I've known or had a pretty good idea that I was still gonna try to coach."

Van Gundy has coached for 12 seasons in the NBA, but it looks like no team is interested in giving him another crack and his 13th season.
