Jamie Carragher has been handed a second chance by Sky Sports, despite the fact many people believe he didn’t deserve it.The Liverpool legend made the front pages of Britain’s tabloid newspapers back in March after he was filmed spitting at a motorist and his 14-year-old daughter. The motorist was goading the retired Premier League star after Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool - a Premier League match that Carragher had covered for Sky Sports hours earlier - when he snapped.Carragher was extremely remorseful after the incident and offered sincere apologies to both the motorist and his daughter.Sky subsequently suspended him until the end of the 2017-18 campaign, leaving his long-term future with the broadcasting giants uncertain. However, Carragher has returned to our screens at the start of this season after Sky offered him a reprieve. A repeat incident, though, would certainly spell the end of his Sky tenure.Carragher has settled back in as if nothing has happened over the past five months. His punditry has been first class and, of course, he has taken every available opportunity to have a cheeky dig at Gary Neville.

Carragher antagonised by Man City fans

The 40-year-old was on punditry duty for the crunch clash between Arsenal and Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

But after finishing his shift, he was targeted by Man City fans. The footage has been posted on social media and you can watch it here…

The supporters can be heard shouting “you Scouse b*****d” among other obscenities at the retired defender, who reacted by turning around and shouting back before making a gesture towards them.

Rather than allowing the situation to escalate further, though, Carragher finally decides to walk off into the service station.

Football fans on Twitter have condemned the actions of the supporters who feature on the video…

A bit of stick is all well and good, but nobody deserves abuse like that. Quite frankly, it’s embarrassing behaviour.

Carragher needs to very careful, though. While he had every right to react badly in this instance, ignoring them may have been the best course of action.

Imagine if he’d gone further here? The footage would have made its way online and Carragher would now be out of a job.

Let’s hope we don’t see any repeat incidents over the coming weeks and months.
