NBA released their schedule for the 2018-19 season last week and it seems to have gone down well with players and coaches this time around unlike previous years.

In the past, players and coaches have complained to the NBA because of the way which they have structured the schedule in which more back-to-backs games occurred and fewer days off for teams to rest were given.

This season, however, things are different. The NBA has reduced the back-to-backs teams must play and has worked on including more days off for teams to rest.

This is something which Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is very happy about.

Better Schedule

Speaking with Bob Fitzgerald on KNBR 680 about the schedule release, via Clutch Sports, Kerr said that he's very happy that the league is cutting down on the overall miles teams have to travel for games.

He said: “I like that too. Remember two years ago, we were No. 1 in the league in terms of miles traveled?

"I believe this schedule has us right in the middle at like 15th, which, given that we’re in the Western Conference, I mean, I would guess that all the Western Conference teams are in the Top 15 just on basic geometry.

"So I think the league has done a really good job of listening to teams doing things like you just said, playing a couple games in a city and staying there instead of playing hopscotch all over the place.”

For teams like the Warriors, having more rest days throughout the season will benefit both the team and the league itself.

Not only will Golden State now have a better chance of having their best players available for most of the year, but it will also mean the league will be able to showcase the best talent they have during primetime games.

Speaking of primetime, the current NBA Champions will begin the 2018-19 season on October 16 when they play against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
