Adapting to the Premier League is notoriously tough for players arriving from foreign leagues, but signs suggest Fred will have no problem at Manchester United.

Making his debut against Leicester City last Friday, the 25-year-old was solid alongside Andreas Pereira and captain Paul Pogba.

He marshalled the back four superbly and kept things simple with his passing - which is exactly what Jose Mourinho bought him for.

Last month, Mourinho suggested Fred was the missing link in United's midfield due to his creativity and technical ability.

"People like Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Paul Pogba, even Ander Herrera, are physical and strong midfielders," said the Portuguese manager.

"We think that players like Fred and Andreas Pereira are more technical - passing and playing in short spaces and maybe connecting with the attacking players."

Only time will tell whether Fred is the real deal for United, but it already looks like he's formed strong bonds with some of his teammates.

THE PERFECT START

Nerves will have been kicking in for the Brazilian ahead of the Leicester game and he received some much-needed support from Pogba and Eric Bailly.

Footage from inside United's tunnel has emerged (see below) of the players waiting to go out onto the pitch to warm up.

Bailly then emerges and goes straight to Fred to give him a big hug before captain Pogba puts an arm around his new teammate as they start walking.

How lovely is that? Despite only being 24 and 25 years old respectively, Bailly and Pogba are two of United's most experienced players and they showed their leadership skills with Fred.

And it clearly worked. Fred enjoyed a decent debut against Leicester and earned some rave reviews from the press.

"Had no problem with the fast tempo and passed adventurously," wrote the Manchester Evening News. "Certainly alleviated the burden on captain Pogba."

And the Mirror said: "Impressive debut. Did the simple things well and showed good energy."
