Earlier this week, WWE announced that they will be following up RAW 25 celebrations from earlier this year with a celebration for SmackDown as well.
WWE officially announced that they will celebrate the 1,000th episode of SmackDown with a special show on Tuesday, October 16 from the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.
In a statement about the show yesterday, Vince McMahon said: “One thousand episodes is a tremendous milestone reinforcing the longevity and popularity of WWE. But it’s only the beginning, and the best is yet to come for SmackDown.”
Advertisements for the show have already begun to run in the DC area, and they have confirmed that one WWE legend will be at the special event in October later this year.
According to Heel By Nature, adverts have stated that The Undertaker will be at SmackDown 1000 celebration.
Just like RAW 25, WWE is bound to have other big names on the show, but The Deadman is certainly one of the biggest names that could be on the list as guests for the celebration.
Matches such as AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan vs The Miz, and Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton have also been advertised as dark matches for the event. The advertisement also says WWE Hall of Famers and legends will be at the event too.
What's also interesting is exactly when the SmackDown 1000 show takes place, as October 16 falls in between two big pay-per-views, the Super Show-Down and Evolution.
WWE could use the show to not only reflect on events that happened in Australia since The Undertaker will battle Triple H on that show, but they could also continue their build for their historic first-ever all-women's pay-per-view later on in the month.
WWE also mentioned in their statement earlier this week that SmackDown helped to launch the careers of pop-culture icons including Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Bella Twins, potentially teasing that they too could appear at the celebration.
