Monday Night Raw has been a weekly episodic programme from the WWE since 1993, but for the first time in its 25-year history this week, a woman was a part of the commentary team.Renee Young has been brilliant for the WWE since debuting for the company in 2013 and her work on talk shows, in backstage segments and Network shows has not gone unnoticed. The WWE Universe adores her and with the Evolution pay-per-view on the horizon, the WWE decided to put her in the commentary booth with Corey Graves and Michael Cole for the go-home show of Raw ahead of SummerSlam. The reviews of Young online have generally been favourable and for a first-timer on such a big stage, you would never have guessed it was her inaugural outing.Vince McMahon is quite notorious for being very controlling on the headsets while he is producing the show and the likes of Jerry 'The King' Lawler and Good Ol' JR have said as much in the past, so how much did he bother Young?Young spoke to the WWE immediately after Raw on Monday night and she revealed the Chairman of the board only had one thing to say to her during the three-hour broadcast.“He only spoke to me once, just once. I mean, I’m sure he was kind of letting me get away with a few things tonight. Yeah, he told me to slow down on a couple spots but that was it. And, geez, if that’s the only note that I get from him tonight, hallelujah, I’ll take it.”The close of the show saw Young's real-life husband Dean Ambrose make his long-awaited return from his triceps tendon injury and Young couldn't contain how excited she was, even though she was notably quiet on commentary.

“The fact that I announced Monday Night RAW tonight and it was the return of my husband, who has not been in the ring for 9 months. Seeing his recovery and all of the obstacles he had to go through to get back in the ring, I had goosebumps the entire time. It was so exciting.”

Young has been one of the WWE's best assets outside of the ring ever and let's hope McMahon affords her more opportunities like this moving forward. It was certainly a refreshing change to Raw.
