Arsenal are being linked with a January move for Athletic Bilbao keeper Gorka Iraizoz.

The 29-year-old stopper is one of the most consistent performers in La Liga, and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has highlighted the keeper as the next potential No.1 at the Emirates.

A veteran of the Spanish leagues, Iraizoz made his debut for Baskonia in 1999 before spending time with Bilbao Athletic, Gernika and the Espanyol B team. After a loan spell at Eibar, the goalkeeper got limited chances in La Liga, making 23 appearances for the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat club.

Bilbao would pay Espanyol €4.6 million to bring the player to San Mamés, and Iraizoz has gone from strength to strength with Los Leones.

With his contract set to expire next summer and the player's agent suggesting both parties are some way away from a deal, Spanish paper AS reports that Arsenal scouts have highlighted Iraizoz as the player most likely to make a Premier League move.

The Gunners scouts were also thought to have taken a shine to Diego Lopez and David de Gea, but the Basque stopper is the number one target for Arsenal.

Manuel Almunia has started the season between the sticks for Wenger's north London club, but Arsenal remain in the market for a keeper and could land Iraizoz at a discount price due to his contract issues.
