The WWE 2K series has had some highs and lows over the past few years, but most wrestling fans would agree the franchise has been trending upwards given their past few iterations.

This year, the Phenomenal One, AJ Styles will grace the cover of WWE 2K19 while the likes of Rey Mysterio and Ronda Rousey serve as bonus superstars and the game looks like it's going to step a big step forwad.

In 2K18, the career mode was revamped to give players the opportunity to navigate the backstage area and make your own choices on the road to superstardom.

In years past, players have yearned for custom music to return for their custom superstars, My GM mode to make a comeback and to revitalise the 2K showcase.

For those unfamiliar with the 2K showcase, it's a mode where you can play through some of the most important moments in WWE history and replicate the journey of some of the greatest superstars ever. The showcase played through the Attitude Era was particuarly amazing.

Now, 2K, after a two-game break, are rolling out the 2K showcase treatment for Daniel Bryan.

The Return of Daniel Bryan follows the long and storied career of the former WWE champion and is told in his own words through a series of high impact video packages. The Leader of the Yes Movement discusses his early days in sports entertainment, his premature retirement and his recent triumphant return at WrestleMania 34. Players can play through his Hall of Fame-worthy career, including a 2003 bout with John Cena on Velocity.

There are 11 historical matches, and one additional “surprise” match, for a total of 12 matches in nine historic arenas. Given the 12 different matches, there are actually 11 different Daniel Bryan models in the game.

All of them have different or nuanced skillsets and appearance and, yes, his time with Team Hell No will be chronicled.

Of course, Bryan made his return from career-ending concussions earlier this year just before WrestleMania 34.

Competing on the Blue Brand of SmackDown Live, Bryan now has a date with The Miz at SummerSlam, a grudge match that has been brewing since Miz went off on Bryan while he was retired and acting as general manager of SmackDown.
