Celtic's Champions League run for 2018/19 is over. The Bhoys were beaten 2-1 by AEK Athens in the Greek capital, sealing a 3-2 aggregate loss. Rodrigo Galo and Marko Livaja scored for the hosts, with Scott Sinclair netting late on for Celtic.Brendan Rodgers' side has previously beaten Norwegian side Rosenborg and Armenia's Alashkert, but fell at the third-round hurdle. It means there will be no Scottish side in the Champions League, but the Bhoys, Hibernian and Rangers are still in with a chance of making the Europa League.Celtic's loss is yet another huge concern for the champions, who have endured a surprisingly poor start to the season. They were beaten by Hearts on the weekend and have struggled to recruit properly in the summer, with star centre-back Dedryck Boyata refusing to play for the club.Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton was in commentary for BT Sport and he let everyone know his feelings about the club's recruitment. But there was one moment from his quite extraordinary 95 minutes of commentary that had fans on Twitter in stitches. With the score at 2-1 after 84 minutes, Sutton - out of nowhere - delivered a line that is going to be associated with Celtic for some time.

VIDEO AND SUTTON'S POST-GAME TWEET

Sutton says: "They have spent £2m on disco lights at Celtic Park for Champions League nights! Invest in the playing squad!"

Absolute genius. Here's how fans - even Rangers ones - reacted on Twitter.

FANS REACT

Back in June, the Daily Record revealed that Celtic were spending £2.3m on a new entertainment system that will be similar to Ajax's Amsterdam ArenA.

And a club insider told the Scottish paper this back then: “The club is in great shape and only going in one direction.

“The new investment and stadium additions continues progression and will make Celtic Park the country’s best sporting venue and one of the best in Europe."

You really couldn't make this up.

Sutton may even find himself a bit more popular with Rangers fans for a few days after his sensational mocking of Celtic.
