The year 2014 was viewed as one of the biggest in Arsenal's modern history.

It signalled the end of eight years of frugality, with the £260m Emirates Stadium debt finally paid off.

There was also the opportunity for Arsenal to agree new partnerships for their three main revenue streams; matchday, broadcast and commercial.

Arsene Wenger was the key man in all of it, keeping the club in the Champions League between 2006 and 2014 despite receiving little or no funding to buy players.

Mesut Ozil's £42.5m arrival in 2013 was the only real huge signing he was allowed to make.

So how did the legendary Frenchman react when he was allowed to splash the cash for the 2014/15 season? Well, you can see what happened to all 10 below.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ

The crown jewel of Wenger's empire after the debt was cleared. He left on bad terms in January, but Sanchez was incredible during his time in north London, scoring 60 goals in 122 games.

DANNY WELBECK

Welbeck's signing from Manchester United on deadline day was a real panic buy and he's struggled in the capital. His sale in the next transfer window looks inevitable.

CALUM CHAMBERS

Currently out on loan at Fulham, Chambers hasn't really kicked on during his four-year stint at the Emirates. The 2019/20 campaign could be defining for his career when he returns.

MATHIEU DEBUCHY

Injuries ruined a promising Arsenal career for the French right-back after moving from Newcastle. However, Debuchy's enjoying a brilliant spell with Saint Etienne right now.

DAVID OSPINA

One of the most inconsistent goalkeepers of all time. Capable of the spectacular, prone to the outrageously bad. Looks likely to move on before the European window shuts this summer.

GABRIEL PAULISTA

Should never have been sold to Valencia given Arsenal's current defensive woes. The Brazilian wasn't always great at the Emirates, but he would have been ideal for Unai Emery.

KRYSTIAN BIELIK

Big things are still expected of the Polish midfielder-turned-defender. However, loan spells at Birmingham and Walsall have done little to help the progression of the 20-year-old.

BEN SHEAF

Currently on loan at Stevenage, the England U18 international could still have a bright future at Arsenal. But he needs to start matching the likes of Emile Smith-Rowe and Reiss Nelson.

HUGO KETO

A real unknown name. The Finish goalkeeper moved from his homeland when he was 16 and failed to make a senior appearance. He's now at Brighton after completing a free transfer this summer.

ILIAS CHATZITHEODORIDIS

Imagine Paul Merson trying to tackle that surname. The Greek left-back was part of Arsenal's academy before moving to Brentford in 2016 - where he also failed to make a senior appearance.

A loan spell at Cheltenham in 2018 saw him earn a move back to Greece with Panathinaikos.
