Arsenal had a successful transfer window given the limited budget Unai Emery had his disposal. It was believed at the start of the summer that Emery 'only' had around £50 million in order to bolster options in his squad. But despite the restrictions, he still managed to make five signings.Matteo Guendouzi, Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Lucas Torreira all arrived at the club this summer. But, while these signings have significantly strengthened the side, their additions have had a severe impact on Arsenal's finances.According to the Mirror, Emery has been told that they must cut their wage bill in order to fall into line with Premier League rules. And Emery is now open to selling three players before the end of August: Mohamed Elneny, David Ospina and Carl Jenkinson. Most Arsenal fans will not be bothered too much by the departures of Jenkinson and Ospina, but the possibility of losing Elneny has not gone down too well. The Mirror add that there is a 'strong possibility' of selling Elneny to Marseille before the close of the transfer window. And Arsenal fans are not happy. Many have made the point that they should sell Granit Xhaka rather than losing the Egyptian.

It's a fair point. Xhaka has not impressed since making the £35 million move to Arsenal in 2016.

Now that Arsenal have Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi among his midfield options, Xhaka's place in the starting line-up is no longer guaranteed.

Elneny, meanwhile, has proven himself to be a good squad player during his time at Arsenal.

A defensive midfielder with a combative play-style, Arsenal fans seem more convinced with him than the Swiss international.

He will also be on considerably less wages than Xhaka, and will perhaps command a lesser fee than what Xhaka would.

That means, with Arsenal facing financial restrictions, it would make more sense to sell Xhaka than it would Elneny.
