If there's one thing that WWE and Vince McMahon don't like it's using certain terms and phrases on their TV programmes.
Phrases like 'belt' and 'strap' can't be used, as the belt means something so it should be called a championship or title. Vince also doesn't like the words 'feud', 'war', 'performance', 'house show', 'backstage', and 'pro wrestling'.
Another phrase which WWE doesn't like is 'wrestler'. Instead, they like to refer to their performers as 'superstars', which has always baffled some fans as 'wrestler' isn't a weird term for wrestling.
During a recent interview with the FOX News Rundown podcast, Kane spoke about the term 'superstar' and why the WWE uses it instead of 'wrestler'
The Big Red Machine explained that Stephanie McMahon once told him that the reason why WWE calls their wrestlers 'superstars' is because they do a lot more for the company than have matches in the ring.
He said, via Wrestling Inc: “I remember Stephanie McMahon once saying there’s a reason why we’re not called wrestlers. We’re called Superstars because there’s so much more that we do.
“Even within our WWE careers, all the things that we’re asked to do. Our promotion, dealing with the media, all of that stuff is more than just a guy or gal in the ring for 10 minutes a night and put on a show.”
This is a good answer, and it helps to explain why Vince and the WWE like the term so much, as their performers certainly do a lot more than just wrestle inside the squared circle.
As for Kane's wrestling future, he said that he'll do special events if WWE needs him, but his duties as Mayor of Knox County will always come first.
He said: "Basically, if I do anything, I'll just do some special events. But, WWE has been a part of my life for over 20 years, I am very proud of my career, I'm very proud of working for the company, I'm proud of people like you (Tyrus), I'm proud of so many of my friends and colleagues."
