Dwyane Wade's NBA future remains very much up in the air with conflicting reports circulating about what decision he'll make. Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 reported that the veteran has decided to play for one more year and had come to terms on a deal with the Heat. "I don't know the terms of the contract, but Heat still have their full taxpayer exception and the vet minimum would also be an option," Spolane wrote. But Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype has contradicted this report by saying that no agreement has been reached between Wade and Miami. Instead, he claims that retirement is still a strong possibility for the 36-year-old. “In fact, there’s some doubt that the two sides will be able to reach a deal,” tweeted Kennedy.“Retirement is a serious consideration for Wade. If he plays, it’ll be in Miami. But there’s no guarantee he’ll play.”

Heart is in Miami

The only thing we know for sure at this stage is that the 12-time All-Star has confirmed he'll only play for the Florida-based franchise next year if he chooses to continue his career.

"If I'm playing the game of basketball this year, it'll be in a Miami uniform," Wade said.

Several Miami-based reporters and beat writers questioned the validity of Spolane's report as he's based in Houston and gave a vague indication of the contract Wade may sign.

The team has only two options in terms of what they can offer him; the $5.3 million exception or the $2.4 million veteran minimum.

With different stories floating about, we're no clearer on what the future holds for the legendary shooting guard.

But the three-time champion did fuel rumours of a return to South Beach by posting an Instagram picture following a workout with Udonis Haslem, Tyler Johnson, Wayne Ellington and James Johnson.

Apart from Haslem, the others are still on the Heat roster and it could yet be a sign that D-Wade is leaning towards another year in the league to play alongside them.

Speaking a couple of weeks ago on the matter, president Pat Riley said he wanted to give the former Finals MVP "some more time" to make a decision.

Wade rolled back the years on some occasions during the 21 games he played for the Heat last season, which included a game-winner against the Philadelphia 76ers.

But it'll be interesting to see if he feels his body can handle the rigours of another gruelling 82-game campaign.
