At the ripe old age of 32, Rafa Nadal keeps showing us all that he’s still got it.
The old guard continue to dominate the major tennis tournaments that matter – Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Nadal have all won a Grand Slam each in 2018.
The Spaniards capture of the Toronto Masters on Sunday will have softened the blow of narrowly missed out at Wimbledon, after his epic semi-final defeat to Novak Djokovic.
In the earlier rounds Nadal swept aside Maric Cilic and Stan Wawrinka, setting up the chance to win a 33rd ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title.
19-year-old Stefanos Tsitsipas stood in his way in Canada - but was no match as Nadal added another title to his bulging collection.
After the win, Nadal was as you would expect, relaxed and jubilant – he could be seen smiling, and even found time to sign the lense of the TV camera.
After all that though, there was a surprise.
Nadal was seen on-camera checking his phone post-match.
Hilariously, Nadal then revealed that he was so desperate to get on his phone to “see how Tiger’s doing” in the PGA Championship.
Clearly then, he’s a fan of golf’s old guard, as well as tennis. You can see the clip below:
Unfortunately for Nadal his pal Tiger couldn’t quite finish the job, as he finished in a very tidy second place overall.
It still represented Woods’ best performance at a major for some time, and Nadal won’t be the only one hoping we see similar performances in the near future.News Now - Sport News
