Real Madrid's first competitive match without Cristiano Ronaldo ended in defeat on Wednesday night as they lost 4-2 to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.Diego Costa opened the scoring within 49 seconds - a new record - before Karim Benzema equalised in the 27th minute.A penalty from Sergio Ramos then made it 2-1 Real but 16 minutes later Atletico drew level through that man Costa.Into extra-time the game headed and within 14 minutes it was all over. Goals from Spanish pair Saul Niguez and Koke sealed a famous victory for Atletico.Diego Simeone's men were the deserved winners at the A. Le Coq Arena, yet Antoine Griezmann had a very quiet game by his usual standards. He started for Atletico but ended up being withdrawn in the 57th minute, most likely due to a lack of fitness following his success at the World Cup with France.Speaking after the game, the 27-year-old blamed his performance on it being his second game back but said the win justified his decision to stay and reject Barcelona.

GRIEZMANN GLAD HE STAYED

"I stayed because there was a good project," said Griezmann. "I have confidence in this club, in Cholo (Simeone). Today I saw that I was not wrong.

"I was a running in water a bit because it was my second game. In the end the important thing was to get ahead on the scoreboard, we made a very complete final.

"We know that physically the two teams have not reached 100 per cent - the key was the desire to win.

"It was time for us to win the UEFA Super Cup again, it was very important to start the season like this."

Griezmann didn't have the best game or get on the scoresheet, but that didn't stop him from trolling Ramos on Instagram afterwards.

He posted a picture of himself sitting on a throne while holding the Super Cup ball with Ramos crowning him. Check it out below.

Savage. Safe to say Griezmann's post has caused a major stir on Twitter, with some fans finding it hilarious and others saying it's disrespectful.

It remains to be seen whether Ramos will respond, but the Spaniard will no doubt want to get revenge in La Liga this season.

Real are second favourites for the title behind Barcelona, while Atletico are third.
