All signs point to Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell fighting each other this year.

It appears that it’s just a matter of time before a bout between Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell happens again.

Liddell and Ortiz have fought twice throughout their legendary careers, with “The Iceman” knocking out Ortiz at UFC 47 in 2004 and UFC 66 in 2006.

Since that second fight, however, Liddell has lost five of his six bouts with four of those losses coming via stoppage. He then retired in 2010 and hasn’t competed in nearly eight years.

Ortiz, meanwhile, last competed at Bellator 170 in January 2017, scoring a first-round submission victory over Chael Sonnen. Prior to that, he had won two of his three previous fights.

Oscar De La Hoya has gone on record in the past by stating that he and Liddell were talking about the possibility of working on “Golden Boy MMA.” This led to Liddell declaring that he would be coming out of retirement to fight once again.

That led to Ortiz coming out of retirement and thus, both sides have openly talked about fighting each other for the third time.

The fighters have signed contracts in order for this fight to happen and now, it appears that we have a fight date set.

Famous boxer and promoter Oscar De La Hoya told Fight Hub TV earlier this week that the fight is slated to take place on the November 25 weekend.

“I’m looking forward to getting into the MMA world. Making sure these fighters are being compensated well,” De La Hoya said (transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting). “We risk our lives in the ring, so fighter should be compensated extremely well.”

Also, the latest update on this fight was the fact that Oscar De La Hoya filed an application last month with the California State Athletic Commission.

The date that he filed was for an event on Nov. 24 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The main event listed on the application is Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz 3.

It could be argued that the main reasons behind making this fight happen despite both fighters being out of their prime are due to them wanting to fight again and thinking that it would draw huge on pay-per-view.
