It has been an interesting summer for Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder was instrumental in France’s scintillating run to World Cup glory, scoring in the Moscow final as Les Bleus got their hands on that famous trophy for the second time in their history.

It was undoubtedly the peak of what has already been a very impressive career for the 25-year-old.

However, since returning to Manchester United, Pogba has found himself at the heart of a rather intense media storm after rumours of a possible move to Barcelona surfaced.

Pogba did not do himself any favours with the cryptic comments he made in the aftermath of those rumours which suggested that he was less than happy at United.

Pogba’s behaviour since the World Cup has caused a lot of uproar, with differing opinions on what should be done with the French star.

Pundits, fans and former players have all had their say and opinions have varied, but Paul Ince has perhaps offered the most interesting of them all.

“Since he’s come back, he’s been a nightmare,” said Ince, speaking to bookmaker Paddy Power.

“As a player, irrespective of whether you’re happy or unhappy, there are ways to conduct yourself.

“If Jose really thought so little of him, I doubt he’d have given him the armband.

“He had a great game, a real captain’s performance, but no one is talking about that because they’re too busy focusing on his off-field antics.

“I’m just not sure why he’s coming out publicly and disrespecting the club. He’s let himself down.

“All he needs to speak about is the team and their performances, rather than himself.

“It shows a lack of professionalism and discipline.

“If he’s so desperate to instigate a move away from Old Trafford, then he should just go.

“There is no player bigger than a club – especially not Manchester United.”

Right then.

In other words, Ince thinks that Pogba has burnt his bridges, should pack his bags and ship out.

There is no questioning Pogba’s value to United, and after their underwhelming business in the transfer market, the Old Trafford side will be desperate to hang on to him.

Whether he will be willing to pull up his socks and put in the shifts if he forced to stay though, is another question entirely.
