Nick Young is coming off his 11th year in the NBA and there's no doubt it will go down as his most memorable.

He may have played a limited role for the Golden State Warriors but he secured his first championship ring nonetheless.

The signing of the journeyman raised many eyebrows last season but he had a decent impact on the Warriors during his lone campaign in Oakland.

Although he's enjoying his best summer, Young is still a free agent and hasn't landed himself a new team for 2018-19.

The Dubs had no interest in keeping him beyond his one-year deal but after tasting success in the Bay Area, the veteran is keen to join another contending team.

Seeking a reunion

His preference would be the Houston Rockets as he wants to reunite with former head coach Mike D'Antoni who coached him during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“He’s one of the best coaches I played with,” Young told Adam Caparell of Complex Magazine.

But the arrival of Carmelo Anthony in Houston this week seems to have signalled an end to any hopes Young had of taking his talents to Texas.

“I just have to find that exact spot. That’s more key than anything for me than just rushing out there," he said.

"It’s my 11th year. But I’m not used to it. I’m used to signing early. My agent’s telling me to relax and to be more patient.”

Unlike last year, where he was taken early in free agency, the 33-year-old remains on the market and hasn't generated much interest.

With a shortage of cap space around the league, it's tough to see where he could land.

D'Antoni's offensive style, which allows his players freedom to shoot threes at a high rate, suited 'Swaggy P' to the ground but the Rockets are short on money having dished out big contracts to Chris Paul and Clint Capela.

Even though his future is still to be secured, the shooting guard won't let that affect his summer as he continues to celebrate his championship ring and finally experiencing a winning situation.

“I just needed to win. I had been on a lot of losing teams. Always rebuilding,” says Young.

“I feel I needed to experience [winning] and be around guys who are just really good teammates like Draymond [Green], even though he’s crazy.”

The swingman still has time to land with a team for his 12th year but with little interest in him, the chances of him securing a new deal before the start of the new campaign don't look good.
