Shayna Baszler has dropped an interesting tease.

She signed with the WWE back in November. If you recall, she came up short in the finals of the Mae Young Classic against Kairi Sane.

Now, she is slated to defend her NXT Women’s Title against Sane at the upcoming NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event.

Just last year, there was an angle involving Rousey came about after Shayna Baszler’s second-round win in the Mae Young Classic tournament, which aired on WWE Network.

Keep in mind that the sports entertainment company taped the tournament in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University in July of 2017. In the segment, Baszler celebrated with Rousey and MMA teammates Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.

This led to a heated exchange with WWE stars Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bailey, who were seated in the front row across the aisle for the match. WWE shared this video after the episode had aired of Rousey, Duke, and Shafir praising Baszler.

Ultimately, this led to Flair, Lynch, and Bailey walking up and having a tense face-off. Rousey drops her bag as though she’s ready for a fight and is the only one to direct words at the three WWE stars.

Years ago, Rousey, Duke, and Shafir were dubbed MMA’s Four Horsewomen years ago as an homage to the classic Ric Flair-led pro wrestling stable that started in 1985 and lasted through the late ’90s. On the flip side, Flair, Lynch, Bayley, and Sasha Banks also came to be known as the Four Horsewomen of pro wrestling as they rose up the ranks from NXT to the WWE main roster.

Baszler noted in a recent interview with Inside the Ropes that she wouldn’t mind in a Four Horsewomen MMA vs. Four Horsewomen NXT taking place in the WWE. Here is what she had to say (transcript courtesy of SEScoops):

“If they want it to happen, the four of us are fighters,” Baszler said. “We’ve never turned down any sort of fight. They want to argue about who’s the “4 Horsewomen” and what and who owns it. We had it first and that’s fact. It was given to us, we didn’t just call ourselves that.”

The NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 event takes place on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center and will air on the WWE Network.
