Dwight Howard enjoyed a resurgent season with the Charlotte Hornets last year but it clearly wasn't good enough as he was traded earlier this summer. The franchise wanted to get the veteran's big contract off their books and concluded a deal to ship him to the Brooklyn Nets.He had a solid campaign in Charlotte as he put up 16.6 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. But the center reportedly didn't get along with his teammates and wasn't a popular figure in the locker room. He became the scapegoat for their failed season where they missed out on the playoffs again and finished with a losing record of 36-46. Hornets All-Star Kemba Walker, however, has come out in defence of his former teammate and had positive words about his one year playing alongside him. "It was cool man. I've always been a huge fan of Dwight," Walker said, according to Bullets Forever's Kristian Winfield."He's always been one of the guys who I've always wanted to play with. Growing up, Dwight was a beast. It was good. Unfortunately, it didn't work out."Sometimes teams don't do well. That's just the nature of the game. I played with plenty of other guys who came to the team. It just didn't work out. For the one season we had, it was fun."It sucks that we didn’t go as far as we wish we could have but I had a pretty good season individually, and Dwight had a great season individually. Now he's gonna move on - he's in Washington now."

Howard quickly secured a buyout with the Nets to become a free agent and signed a two-year deal with the Wizards.

It'll be his fifth team in the last six years but Walker believes this could be the perfect fit for the three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

"John (Wall) is a helluva player, one of the best passers in our league," Walker said of Wall. "I think he's gonna open up so many opportunities for Dwight.

"I think Dwight's gonna help those guys as well. It’s gonna be fun to watch. They have so many dynamic players on the team between John and (Bradley Beal).

"It's gonna open up so much for Dwight so it'll be good for him."

The big man has already revealed how Wall reached out to him to convince him to join the Wizards.

If the pair can strike up a good relationship on the court, it could add a new dimension to Washington on both ends of the floor and make them a threat in the east.
