As more footage emerges from Manchester City's All or Nothing documentary, it's fast becoming clear what kind of manager Pep Guardiola is.
Demanding and authoritative yet understanding, the Spaniard rules with an iron fist but always has his players' best interests at heart. His treatment of David Silva when the 32-year-old's son, Mateo, was born prematurely at 25 weeks last December encapsulated that compassion.Despite the fact City were midway through the season and challenging for every piece of silverware, Guardiola told his playmaker to take as much time as he needed to be with his family. It was at that moment Silva realised Guardiola wasn't just a world-class manager, but an incredible human being."I have always been well treated by the club, but when Mateo was born prematurely I think it was the time when I realised just how much the club means to me," said Silva in July."It was Christmas. It was the busiest part of the season and I knew Pep needed me to play. We were doing well in the league, but nothing was decided.

FIGHT FOR LIFE

"It was still a close race at that time, yet Pep just said to me: 'Look, there is nothing more important than your family. Take all the time you need to look after your son and your family.'

"In the worst moment of my life, [but] Pep and the people at City showed me the kind of love that you can only appreciate when you have been in that kind of crisis."

Silva missed the 4-1 win against Tottenham on December 16 because of his son and now it's been revealed what Guardiola said to City's players before the game to motivate them.

In an impassioned speech, Guardiola called on his team to win for Silva and his partner and to suffer for them.

"Everybody stand up guys," shouted Guardiola (see below). "Today you have to win for one reason - you have to win for David Silva and his girlfriend.

"He's f****** suffering tonight. When you go out there, you enjoy. Enjoy for him.

"If you go out there and we suffer, then suffer for him. Is that clear?"

What a man. Goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling (2) claimed a huge victory for City which helped them on their way to winning the Premier League.

As for Silva, he was finally able to take his son home in May and is now happier than ever.
