For all the anti-WWE guys out there that say it is fake, the injuries that can occur are very, very real.

Yes, it is scripted. But the dangers are very real - as the famous advert at the turn of the millennium used to remind us.

Plenty of legendary talents have had their careers cut short because of injuries sustained inside the squared circle.

There's no denying that Stone Cold Steve Austin would have had a longer career had he not suffered that botched piledriver from Owen Hart.

Edge had to walk away from the business in 2011 when he discovered one wrong bump could paralyse him. He might have been in the winter of his career, but he did not get to go out on his own terms.

Of course, the list goes on with names like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Daniel Bryan (both of the latter two eventually made comebacks, but still) had to call it a day before their time.

It seems as though another current WWE superstar - who is only 29-years-old - is bracing himself for the same.

Jason Jordan has been off WWE TV since early February after dealing with neck issues, but the original diagnosis had him returning within a few months.

While appearing at WrestleMania was always considered a longshot, Jordan should have returned to Raw by now. Unfortunately, reports have suggested that complications with his recovery have prevented the former American Alpha man from doing so.

Jordan was receiving a monster push as Kurt Angle's son before his injury, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is now reporting that Jordan has been learning the ropes backstage as if he is preparing for retirement.

It's also noted that Matt Hardy is doing the same and while there are many, many more miles on the clock for Hardy as opposed to Jordan, both men are carrying serious injuries.

Jordan was really finding his groove inside the ring and his character was growing in is new position. It would be a terrible shame if he had to retire before discovering just how good he could become.
