Ilkay Gundogan's Manchester City career is often underrated by many fans.

The German midfielder arrived during Pep Guardiola's first summer in charge from Borussia Dortmund.

Gundogan thrived under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp, but injuries at both Dortmund and City have slightly hindered his progress.

He missed a large chunk of his debut season with the Citizens due to a serious knee injury.

However, his input last season was crucial to Guardiola's record-breaking side.

He was always on hand to provide quality depth in midfield when David Silva or Kevin De Bruyne were absent, scoring four goals along the way.

Gundogan was given the nod from the start against Arsenal last weekend as well and is likely to be heavily involved in upcoming games due to De Bruyne's serious knee injury.

But does Gundogan rate the Belgian midfield maestro as the best he's ever played with, a player who is only second to Lionel Messi in Guardiola's own books?

Well, no and Gundogan doesn't actually rate any of his City teammates as the most talented he's ever played with.

When he was asked the question on Instagram by a fan, he replied that Mario Gotze was the most talented man he has played with.

He replied on the social media platform: "Most talented player in general was Mario Gotze when I just joined the club, he was incredible in training!"

An interesting choice. Gotze was viewed as the arguably the finest midfield prospect during his first spell with Dortmund, before his ill-fated move to Bayern Munich.

Klopp has always voiced his adoration for Gotze as well and he's now back at Dortmund, but has failed to make the same impact.

The time to fulfil his full potential may have sadly passed.

Still, to be placed ahead of De Bruyne, Silva, Sergio Aguero and Mesut Ozil to be Gundogan's most talented teammate is still a fairly decent accolade.
