The Kansas City Chiefs are undergoing something of a transformation heading into the 2018 NFL season. After having Alex Smith under center for so long, the Chiefs now have a replacement for the man they traded away to the Washington Redskins in the summer.Patrick Mahomes was drafted with the 10th overall pick last year and the former Texas Tech Red Raider was always viewed as the heir apparent to Smith's throne. Well, now Mahomes has a chance to prove himself in this preseason and show he's got what it takes to lead the Chiefs back to the Playoffs. And he's doing just that...The Chiefs took on former NFL MVP Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons last night and came out 28-14 winners thanks in part to an absolute monster of a touchdown throw by Mahomes to find speedy wideout Tyreek Hill.

Cannon Arm

With the seconds winding in the quarter, with Mahomes coming to the end of his shift in the Chiefs second preseason game, Mahomes decided that it was time to unleash his rocket and grace us all with the first cloud-scraping touchdown pass of 2018.

Down 14-3 and from his own 30-yard line, the Chiefs dialled up Tyreek Hill on a go route to make use of his blistering speed and try to take the lid off the defense.

That worked, obviously because he is Tyreek Hill, but Mahomes still had to find the former Oklahoma State man. So Mahomes uncorked one, torquing his shoulder the full way back before releasing a bullet that travelled to the Falcons 5-yard line and into Hill's waiting arms - leaving Falcons defenders with their arms in the air wondering what had just hit them.

You can take a look at it here...

That is some serious arm talent. There are only a few players in the entire league that could make that play and after so many years of Alex Smith's short throws, it'll be a treat for Chiefs fans to be able to witness some of the throws Mahomes can make.
