One former WWE Champion pitched an interesting idea for SummerSlam.

That former WWE Champion is Chris Jericho has done it all under the sports entertainment banner. He has been under contract with the sports entertainment company off and on since 1999.

Jericho is a six-time world champion, having won the WWE Championship once, the WCW/World Championship twice, and WWE's World Heavyweight Championship three times.

He is also a record nine-time Intercontinental Champion. Jericho is the first Undisputed WWE Champion.

Thus, the final holder of the World Championship (formerly the WCW World Heavyweight Championship), having won and unified the WWE and World titles by defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock on the same night in 2001.

He is also the ninth Triple Crown Champion, as well as the fourth Grand Slam Champion in WWE history.

Jericho revealed an interesting pitch that he made for SummerSlam on the latest edition of Talk is Jericho.

The SummerSlam pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. Both Raw and SmackDown brands will be featured.

He made a pitch about an inter-promotional match between WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Here is what Jericho said (h/t to Wrestling Inc):

”I got a scoop for you guys … I gotta be careful, though. … I placed a call to a certain head of a certain wrestling company, let’s just leave it at that, and said ‘I have got something for ya. It’s boffo box office, it’s big time.’ I said ‘what do you think about first time ever Intercontinental champion vs. Intercontinental champion, Jericho vs. Rollins.’ ‘What’s the finish?’ ‘Doesn’t matter.’ …

The finish doesn’t matter. It’s getting people to buy it and get into it. IC title, New Japan vs. WWE, and you could make this happen. And there was some ‘well, you’d have to do it on TV.’ No, you would not. You wouldn’t have to do anything. I would show up the Monday night before SummerSlam, which has passed already, so you know that’s not going to happen. Because we get home…

I literally could have, I checked, trust me, and the show is like in Greenville, South Carolina, or something. I could have been there at 4 pm, I could have run through the crowd, attacked Seth Rollins, made the challenge, made the match, Jericho vs. Rollins, IC title vs. IC title. I pitched it, got a decent response, and never heard another word again.”

”Not saying that it was Vince or anybody else but there was a very high level executive.”
