Kovacic's highlights

The Croatia international came on for Ross Barkley in the 60th minute and got fans excited with a very promising cameo.

His stats, per Squawka, were very impressive.

Completing 100 per cent of your passes is a great way to start.

Kovacic’s individual highlights have now emerged and they give a sign of what Chelsea can expect from the midfielder.

Not bad. The way in which he dispossessed Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira certainly stood out.

The Express rated Kovacic’s display at eight out of the 10, heaping praise on the new arrival.

“Made some crunching tackles after his introduction and looks a brilliant bit of business by Chelsea,” they wrote.

“Helped the Blues dominate midfield as they dragged themselves back ahead.”

Sarri will be happy. Barkley played well, and will provide competition, but Kovacic looks like the player to start from here on.

Goals from Pedro, Alvaro Morata and Alonso handed the Blues the win in a thrilling encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will be looking to continue their perfect start to the season when they travel to Newcastle United next Sunday.
