Although SummerSlam is yet to take place, WWE is pulling out all the stops in order to make sure that Evolution is an unmissable event on October 28.

Prior to last night's NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, we knew that five matches would be taking place at Evolution in two months time.

These were defenses of all of the WWE's women's championships including the Raw Women's Championship, SmackDown Women's Championship, NXT Women's Championship, and the United Kingdom Women's Championship, as well as the finals of the 2018 Mae Young Classic.

Hall of Famers Lita, Trish Stratus, and Beth Phoenix had been confirmed for the event as well, but in what capacity was unknown.

Thanks to WWE however, we now know how one of these Hall of Famers will be used at the all-women's pay-per-view event.

Bliss vs Stratus

WWE has announced that the seven-time Women’s Champion will face off against the current Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss at Evolution in October, their first-ever match against one another.

This will be Stratus’ first match in the WWE since competing in the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match earlier this year.

This will also be her first singles match since September 2006 when she faced off against Lita at Unforgiven for the Women's Championship.

Bliss reacts

Bliss reacted to the news on her Twitter account.

She said: "Rookies, Hall of Famers, I’ll defeat them all. Any time. Any where. #WWEEvolution 🖤💪🏻"

The Goddess is set to defend her Raw Women’s title against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam later today, so there's a chance she might not be champion when she faces Stratus at Evolution in October.

WWE however still sees Bliss as one of the biggest names across their entire women's division which is why they have booked her for a match at the all-women's pay-per-view against the Hall of Famer.

WWE Evolution looks set to be a fantastic night of women's wrestling already despite the event still being two months away.

Bliss vs Stratus will be a fantastic way of WWE combining their past with their present and their future in a match which all fans should enjoy.
