Manchester United were beaten 3-2 by Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

French midfielder Paul Pogba captained the side in a hugely disappointing performance at the Falmer Stadium.

Signed from Juventus in 2016, the 25-year-old World Cup winner is Man United's club-record signing but has yet to prove himself as a consistent performer in the Premier League.

His relationship with Jose Mourinho is not good right now, despite the Portuguese coach praising his "monster" performance in last week's 2-1 win over Leicester.

It will be interesting to see how Pogba's post-match interview will go down with Mourinho.

Pogba admitted that his "attitude" - as well as his teammates' - wasn't good enough.

Interview causes a stir

"We lost, we did not deserve to win," Pogba told Sky Sports after the match.

"The attitude we had was not like we wanted to beat them, they had more hunger than us.

"I put myself first, my attitude wasn't right enough.

"We kept trying but, myself, I was losing a lot of balls."

Some Man United fans on social media praised Pogba for his honesty while others were criticising their captain.

Meanwhile, club legend Paul Scholes was shocked by the post-match interview and tore into the former Juventus midfielder.

"I hope that is lost in translation," said the BT Sport pundit.

"There is no defence for that comment. There is no defence for that comment.

"You say it to yourself, don't you? You're constantly on at yourself, 'attitude right, make sure it's right'.

"You don't need other people to tell you. You don't need a manager, you don't need other players."

Scholes is certainly not impressed.

Man United and Pogba are due to face Tottenham in their next Premier League outing on Monday August 27.
