After three years of trying, Roman Reigns finally defeated Brock Lesnar.

In the process, Reigns took Lesnar's Universal title and the Big Dog now begins his inaugural reign with Raw's top strap.

It had long been suspected that Vince McMahon wanted Reigns to be the one to beat Lesnar on his way out and now that the Beast Incarnate is on his way back to the UFC to face Daniel Cormier for the heavyweight title, the time was right.

Reigns scored the win off a spear out of nowhere and Lesnar was ill-prepared after dealing with Braun Strowman at ringside.

The Monster Among Men appeared before the bell rung and insisted he would challenge the winner of the bout, but Lesnar's mid-match attacks put that train of thought to bed at the Barclays Center.

However, according to Dave Meltzer, Strowman versus Reigns over the Universal title is very much the direction the WWE are heading in.

Both men are slated to work together at upcoming live events and that had led to speculation that one of Reigns or Strowman would need to turn heel in the process.

However, according to Meltzer, that's not the case. Meltzer noted WWE is not too concerned with Roman Reigns’ babyface vs heel status, as he is somewhat of a “tweener” character at this point.

Strowman is seriously over with the fans and when going up against Reigns with the title on the line, it's not hard to imagine which side of the fence the crowd are likely to land on.

Of course, Strowman and Reigns had a fantastic feud in 2017 with Strowman operating as a heel, so Vince might be tempted to revisit that dynamic, especially with the title now on the line.

Still, it's hard to imagine the WWE would want to switch a man who is, arguably, their most popular babyface in the company.
