Last night on Monday Night Raw, Stephanie McMahon temporarily relieved Kurt Angle of his duties as the show's general manager and made Baron Corbin acting GM of the show for the foreseeable future.

Stephanie appeared on WWE's red brand show on Monday night to congratulate Ronda Rousey on her Raw Women's Championship win at SummerSlam against Alexa Bliss the night before.

However, angry that the Raw commissioner turned up just to draw the attention to herself, Rousey placed Stephanie in an armbar in the middle of the ring.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet got the better of Stephanie again, but it would be Angle that would pay for Rowdy's actions.

In the treatment room alongside Angle, Bliss, and Corbin, Stephanie would send the Raw general manager on a mandatory vacation and make Baron the acting GM of the show for the foreseeable future.

While this is the storyline reason for Kurt missing time on Raw, the potential real reason for his absence from WWE's red brand has since been revealed.

Canada

According to Rajah, the real reason why Angle is taking time off is because Raw next week is in Toronto, Canada, and due to his past legal issues, he may not be able to travel north of the border.

Kurt wasn't on the show the last time the company held an event there on April 30 in Montreal, so this could be WWE's way of temporarily writing him off so that he doesn't have to travel.

Angle's reaction

Angle had his say on being relieved of his duties on Raw for a few weeks on social media after the show last night, stating that he didn't know if his time away would be 'temporary or permanent'.

He said on Instagram: "I’m really sorry that I won’t be on Monday Night Raw for a little while. I enjoyed every minute of it with the WWEUniverse.

"I was told by @stephaniemcmahon that I need a vacation. I don’t know if it’s temporary or permanent. I Hope I will be back sooner than later. Thank you WWEUniverse. Much Love. #itstrue"

Potentially, this storyline could be a way which WWE brings Angle back to the ring once more, as reports have stated that he could have a match against Corbin in the future.
