Virgil van Dijk produced a magnificent performance for Liverpool against Crystal Palace on Monday night.Selhurst Park is always a tough place to go but Jurgen Klopp’s side came away with all three points after a 2-0 victory.James Milner’s penalty and Sadio Mane’s late counter-attacking goal sealed Liverpool’s second victory of the campaign but it was Van Dijk that picked up the Sky Sports Man of the Match award.Van Dijk’s colossal performance earned some very high praise from Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher who suggested he was probably the best in the league - and is setting his sights on the likes of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane."I can’t think anybody in my head who is better," Carragher said on Monday Night Football. "It feels to me he’s the man to step into (Vincent) Kompany’s position - over the last five years Kompany has been that leader and colossus."They are very similar as players really, there’s nothing they really lack. When Kompany is at his best, maybe two or three years ago, I said I didn’t think there was any other centre-back out there better than him.

"I still think he has to win the big trophies and that’s part of the team, you look at what Real Madrid have done over the last couple of years, with Ramos and Varane at the back. Even (Gerard) Pique. He has to win the big trophies to do that."

Is Van Dijk really as good as Varane and Ramos?

Well, Sky Sports decided to take matters into their own hands and asked football fans who was better: Van Dijk, Varane or Ramos?

The poll ran for five hours on Monday and here are the results:

After more than 75,000 votes, Ramos is the clear winner with 48%.

Interestingly, Van Dijk is next with 28% of the vote, with Varane trailing with just 24%.

While Van Dijk might soon be rivaling Ramos in terms of ability, the Spaniard has the far superior trophy cabinet.

Ramos has won four La Ligas, two Spanish Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, three FIFA Club World Cups, four Champions Leagues, two European Championships and the World Cup.

Van Dijk has won two Scottish Premierships and a Scottish League Cup…
