Liverpool fought hard to secure a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.

James Milner tucked away a penalty on the stroke of half-time after Mohamed Salah was fouled by Mamadou Sakho.

Sadio Mane wrapped up the three points with an excellent finish after being assisted by Salah late in stoppage time.

Jurgen Klopp admitted that it was "not a brilliant performance" but was happy to maintain their flawless start to the season.

"We were there and helped each other to avoid big problems but it was not a brilliant performance from us," said the German manager.

"A lot of players can play 70 per cent or 80 per cent better; it would have helped but we worked really hard and that's absolutely OK. I'm happy with the performance and very happy with the result."

Roberto Firmino found it difficult to make any kind of impact during the 2-0 win at Selhurst Park.

The Brazilian striker was key to Liverpool's success last season but is still on the hunt for his first goal of the 2018/19 campaign.

On Tuesday, YouTuber Nouman posted an excellent tactical analysis video on Liverpool's victory over Crystal Palace.

And he offered an in-depth explanation of Firmino's struggles.

It's a must-watch for all football geeks - and even Klopp might want to pay attention to Nouman's analysis.

Very interesting. To thwart Firmino, Liverpool's opponents would be smart to copy Roy Hodgson's tactics.

Alongside Salah and Mane, the 26-year-old striker formed an incredible attacking trio last season and bagged 27 goals in all competitions.

He's a fan favourite at Anfield and Firmino believes Liverpool can beat Manchester City to the title.

"I am optimistic and I believe Liverpool are capable of fighting for the greatest success this season," he said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

"I also think we have a better team than last season and that the new players will improve the performance of the team.

"Certainly my dream is to lift the Premier League trophy with Liverpool and that's what we are trying to do.

"City are not invincible, they have lost games too.

"I think the battle for the title is going to be very tough and will go until the very last day. That's why we're determined to start at the top.

"All I can promise our supporters is that we will give every last drop and finish the season absolutely empty in a bid to win the title."

Liverpool face Brighton on Saturday and Firmino will certainly be hoping to get off the mark.
