Another sign that two Lucha Underground are WWE bound has surfaced.

Dave Meltzer reported in the last weeks edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials are interested in signing two Lucha Underground stars - Pentagon Jr. and Fenix - as the longtime pro wrestling journalist wrote the following:

“There’s been overtures to Fenix and Pentagon Jr.,” wrote Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer. “Even though as far as I’ve heard both still have three seasons left on their Lucha Underground deals.”

It should be noted that their deals with Lucha Underground require them to prioritize Lucha Underground tapings throughout 7 seasons and the show is in the middle of season four.

Potential landing spots for these talents are NXT or even the 205 Live brand.

This is a safe statement, to say the least. You have to give WWE a lot of credit for making the decision to bring back the cruiserweight division.

It was all due to Triple H, who came up with the idea for the Cruiserweight Classic that aired on the WWE Network. It featured the best talents in the world.

205 Live premiered on November 29, 2016, and airs following SmackDown Live. The Raw brand was originally established as the exclusive home of the division during the brand extension last year.

However, following the premiere of 205 Live, the cruiserweight stars appear on both Raw and 205 Live as well as making appearances on NXT.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is no longer charge of the TV series as he has stepped aside. Now, Triple H, who oversees NXT, is in charge of the brand.

As seen by watching the show on the sports entertainment company’s streaming service, WWE Network, “The Game” has brought back many of the things that were familiar of the Cruiserweight Classic to the show.

While McMahon wanted to showcase their personalities, Triple H has focused more on their in-ring work.

People within the sports entertainment company has noted that the last two weeks of 205 Live have been compared to WWE NXT.

What fans are seeing on the program is the vision that was planned originally with the 205 Live series before McMahon got involved in the creative of the program.

The latest update on these two stars signing with the WWE is that they are not accepting bookings beyond 2018 at the moment.

“The main thing is that both are not taking any dates in 2019,” wrote Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer. “Which is usually a sign of going to WWE.”
