Dez Bryant has been without an NFL team ever since he was cut by the Dallas Cowboys earlier this offseason.

It's surprising to see a player of his quality still without a team at this stage of the offseason, but there have been several teams linked to him throughout the summer.

Two teams that have been linked to the wide receiver are the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots.

While Bryant paid a visit to the Browns this past week, as we saw on Hard Knocks, the Patriots have already made a call on the former Cowboy star.

According to the NFL Network’s Mike Giardi, New England "probably" has no interest in Dez Bryant, and is more likely to bring back Jordan Matthews.

The Patriots released Matthews earlier this month, and he is currently dealing with a hamstring injury.

If they don't sign Dez, Tom Brady will look to Rob Gronkowski, Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, and Cordarrelle Patterson to start the 2018 season. Julian Edelman is suspended for the first four games of the year.

Eric Decker could be an option too as he was brought in a few weeks ago, but there’s a chance he doesn’t make the final roster as he struggles in training camp.

Kenny Britt was expected to be an option for the Patriots quarterback too at the start of the season while Edelman is on the sidelines, but he was cut by the team earlier this week, eight months after signing a two-year deal in December.

This is why so many have linked the Patriots as a potential suitor for Bryant, but it appears as though they have seen enough from the likes of Dorsett and Patterson throughout the preseason to roll with them for the first four games of the year until Edelman returns.

As for Bryant, his best bet to get on a team before the start of the season will likely be the Browns, or he may have to wait until another team picks up a significant injury at the wide receiver position.
