A good first touch is incredibly important in football.

It can be the difference between creating that half a yard of space to get a shot away or allowing a defender to make the tackle.

At the very top level, the first touch of players is usually immaculate.

But how do you test your first touch?

Well, F2 freestylers Billy Wingrove and Jeremy Lynch had a good idea.

They popped over to Bayern Munich’s training ground to test the touch of David Alaba, Javi Martinez and Renato Sanches with a ball machine challenge.

They turned the machine up to 60mph and fired balls at the three Bayern players in turn, as they attempted to control it within the centre circle.

And it looked pretty difficult.

Take a look:

We doubt those players will have to control a ball played at them at 60mph during a match - and they will be very glad about that.

One of the players involved - Renato - is looking to rekindle his career at Bayern this season.

He spent much of last season on loan at Swansea in the Premier League but was extremely underwhelming as the Swans were relegated.

But the 20-year-old appears to have been given a fresh start under Niko Kovac having impressed in pre-season.

"You have to keep in mind that when a player comes from a foreign country, you can not simply expect him to establish himself in a new environment in no time," Kovac said after Sanches scored a free-kick during Bayern’s 3-1 win against PSG in the International Champions Cup last month.

"This is the same with any foreign player, you have to give the players time. I do not think that time was given to him and now he has this time.

"He came into training very motivated from the beginning, I've seen it every day for three weeks, he is really pushing and that's why I'm glad that he made a good game and scored a nice free-kick goal.

"You just have to give those people who come from elsewhere more time than they might need in this business."
