It’s safe to say Liverpool have been a success in the transfer window in recent years.

The likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have all arrived at Anfield in different transfer windows - and each have been nothing short of sensational.

In fact, Liverpool’s eight most recent transfers read: Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri, Van Dijk, Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andy Robertson.

That’s eight incredibly strong squad players right there.

But, every now and then, you need to plan for the future and sign one or two youth players in the hope they develop into first-team players.

And that’s what Liverpool tried to do in 2014 when they signed two youngsters from Premier League rivals Tottenham.

Liverpool signed Kevin Stewart and Lawrence Vigouroux - a pair of 20-year-olds in the summer of 2014.

But where are they now?

Kevin Stewart - Hull City

Stewart actually managed 20 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions under both Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp but failed to impress.

He also had loan spells at Cheltenham, Burton and Swindon during his time at the club.

In the summer of 2017, Stewart completed a permanent move to Championship side Hull City for £7.5 million, where he remains.

The deal may have played a role in Hull allowing Robertson to move in the opposite direction shortly afterward.

Lawrence Vigouroux - Swindon Town

Vigouroux was never given an opportunity in Liverpool’s first-team but represented the club’s Under-21 side.

In the summer of 2015, he was loaned to Swindon and played in a friendly against Liverpool at the County Ground - but made a mistake for Sheyi Ojo’s winner.

He signed permanently for Swindon a year later and now plays for the Robins in League Two.

He spent part of last season at Waterford in the League of Ireland Premier Division.
