Chelsea fans will very pleased to have Maurizio Sarri as their manager.

The Italian has enjoyed a rapid ascent since going full time as a manager in 1999.

Sarri built himself a reputation as one of the best managers in the world during his stint with Napoli, where he made the Italian club one of the most feared attacking sides in European football.

Despite his decision to leave for Chelsea this summer, many in Naples would still have a high opinion of the 59-year-old.

But that can not be said about Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis.

De Laurentiis is clearly still unhappy about Sarri's decision to leave for Chelsea. The Napoli president vented his 'bitterness' that Sarri could not win anything at the club earlier this week.

"There remains the pleasure of having played well but also the bitterness of not having won anything," he told L'Equipe, per football.london.

"We gave Sarri everything and in three years we didn’t win anything."

That was always going to instigate a reaction from Sarri, and he did not disappoint.

"He talks about me because I think he is missing me!" Sarri responded in his press conference yesterday.

And when asked if he missed the president following his move to Chelsea, he added: "For the moment, no!

"It’s true that we didn’t win anything at Napoli, but we set the club points record at 91 and we qualified three times for the Champions League.

"It was unusual for Naples, so I think we did very well.

"Nobody in Italy has won the league except for Juventus for the past seven years."

That's a perfect response from Sarri. There's no denying he did a fantastic job while at the club.

He took over in 2015 with the club having just finished 5th in Serie A with 63 points.

In his three seasons Sarri would lead Napoli to two second place finishes and a third place finish, with Napoli even setting a club points record last season.

Pep Guardiola even commented after their Champions League meeting last year that his Napoli side were the best he had ever faced.

Put simply, Sarri overachieved at the club. He transformed them into perennial Champions league contenders, while making their football very attractive to watch.

Napoli have made great strides in recent years, and that's solely down to Sarri's influence.
