it has been a difficult year for Jordan Spieth.
After exploding onto the scene by winning just about everything he could get his hands on, the American’s career has stalled somewhat in 2018.
While it hasn’t been a completely forgettable year, by Spieth’s high standards it is still one that he will want to put behind him as he looks to regain his winning touch in 2019.
However, 2018 hit a resounding low for Spieth on Friday evening at Northern Trust Open.
Normally such a formidable asset, Spieth’s putting let him down dramatically when going for a tap-in on the 18th.
The 25-year-old criminally tapped the ball with one hand, moving it only a couple of inches forward and costing him another shot.
Watch the dreadful moment below.
Don’t worry Jordan, we’ve all been there.
Spieth would go on to make a nigh on fatal triple bogey as he ended his round eight shots off the lead.
What will make the blunder hurt even more, is that Spieth was pretty solid for rest of his round but you simply can’t hide from such a damaging triple.
The schoolboy moment really summed up Spieth’s year as he has constantly struggled to replicate some of the scintillating form he has shown in the past.
He has been there and thereabouts, challenging at the Masters and the Open but he simply hasn’t looked like Spieth we have all come to know and enjoy.
However, you can be sure that the three-time major winning will right the ship soon, especially with the small matter of the Ryder Cup on the horizon.
Spieth will need to put his woes on the green behind him if he wishes to play in an instrumental part in Team USA’s defence of the famous old cup.
If Spieth can get his putter going again, Team Europe could have a difficult time keeping him quiet.
