Daniel Bryan is undoubtedly one of the nicest, most likeable figures in wrestling right now.

The former world champion slowly built up an enormous following over his years in WWE, culminating in him being at the top of the pile in 2014.

But, as everyone knows, things quickly went sour and injuries and concussions meant that Bryan was virtually inactive from the time he became undisputed champion at Wrestlemania XXX.

He officially retired in February 2016 and became general manager of Smackdown but earlier this year his shock return to WWE as an active competitor was announced.

Bryan has since competed at Wrestlemania, teaming with Shane McMahon and defeating Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn before he embarked on a feud with Big Cass.

That feud saw Cass eliminate Bryan after a record-breaking performance in the Greatest Royal Rumble before Bryan got revenge at both Backlash and Money in the Bank.

Fans weren't happy though, not seeing Big Cass as the right opponent for Bryan - let alone at multiple events.

And things seemed even worse after Cass was fired just days after the MITB match for what was rumoured to be 'unprofessional behaviour'.

But despite fans' displeasure with the feud, Bryan has actually had some very nice words for his former rival.

"I really liked wrestling Big Cass," Bryan told Sky Sports. "I thought that he progressed a lot in the time we were working together, so I honestly wish him the best of luck.

"I like him a lot as a person and as a wrestler, so I hope he does very well."

Those are some very nice, classy comments from Bryan - although you'd hardly expect anything else from the man.

The next big issue for Bryan surrounds his contract. It will be up on September 1st, allowing him to leave WWE and move elsewhere, with New Japan Pro Wrestling almost certainly willing to pay what it takes to get him on board.

Recent reports suggest he's close to re-signing with WWE, however - a move that would surely change the company's plans with him.
