Arsenal have received a boost after Cesc Fabregas revealed he expects to be fit to take on Chelsea on October 3.

The Arsenal captain injured his hamstring in the process of scoring for the Gunners in their 1-1 draw against Sunderland last Saturday.

The original prognosis from the Arsenal medical team suggested that the Spaniard would be sidelined for "two to three weeks", but Fabregas has revealed he is ahead of schedule in his recovery.

"The injury is not as bad as we first thought," Fabregas told radio station COPE.

"There is no muscle rupture and I will be back perfect in about 10 to 11 days. I am working with an osteopath in Paris and just working day to day.

"I think I will make the Chelsea game."
